Active storm track could slow Iowa farmers

An active storm track the next two weeks could slow spring fieldwork in Iowa.

State climatologist Justin Glisan tells Brownfield several low pressure systems are expected to move through the Upper Midwest the first part of April, signaling wetter conditions.

“Now this doesn’t suggest a deluge or a lot of rainfall, but it definitely does say the storm track is more active and we should see more precipitation.”

He says the snowpack across Iowa has been melting “gently” then refreezing at night, and frost is out of the ground.
