Soil moisture up a bit in South Dakota

South Dakota soil moisture levels improved slightly in March.

The USDA says more than two thirds of topsoil and more than half of subsoil have adequate to surplus moisture levels, even as the entire state ranges from abnormally dry to extreme drought.

22% of South Dakota’s winter wheat crop is called good to excellent, down 1% on the month, with 64% rated fair, up 7%, and 14% in poor to very poor shape, a drop of 6%.
