Iowa farmer comes to terms with higher input costs

A southwest Iowa farmer says adapting to higher input costs is becoming the norm.

Dave McGargill says the cost of production continues to impact his operation. “Our expenses are terribly high,” he said. “That just keeps trending upward.”

He tells Brownfield lower fertilizer prices have helped provide some relief. “We did finally get some anhydrous bought for spring supply,” McGargill said. “It did come down off its highs.”

McGargill says diesel prices will be another concern this year.
