An Illinois ice cream plant that shut down last year has been purchased and will reopen.
Farmer-owned Tillamook County Creamery Association bought the former Prairie Farms ice cream plant in Decatur. Tillamook also bought some adjacent property and according to a development agreement with city officials, they will invest around 50 million dollars to expand production and have around 45 full-time employees. That’s about ten more people than Prairie Farms had at the site.
