Grassley calls for cap on farm bill programs

U.S. Senator Chuck Grassley says he would like to cap the amount of funds large ag operations receive from the farm bill.

“Even with record farm industry income, almost half of our farmers have a negative farm income,” he said. “We know that the largest 10% of the farms receive 70% of the commodity payments.”

Speaking with reporters this week, he says some programs, like the Partnership for Climate-Smart Commodities, don’t protect small farms and operations.
