Western Nebraska ranchers cited for animal cruelty after 1,000 cattle seized

A pair of Western Nebraska ranchers have been arrested and cited for 150 cases of animal cruelty after law enforcement seized more than 1,000 head of cattle.

The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office says they were investigating reports of mistreatment of cattle, horses and livestock on five properties owned by 75-year-old Larry Mikoloyck and his 41-year-old son Mathew.

The Nebraska Brand Inspectors Office, Nebraska State Patrol Aircraft and other law enforcement agencies, found more than 150 head of dead cattle and observed numerous sick and dying animals in January and February.
