For the remainder of Friday, a significant rain event will continue to unfold across the southern and eastern Corn Belt, leading to flash flooding and muddy field conditions.  Later Friday, a narrow band of heavy, wet snow is expected from central Illinois into southern Lower Michigan, with totals of 4 to 10 inches possible.

For Friday night into Saturday, heavy snow will reach parts of New York and New England.  Subsequently, the focus for stormy weather will return to the western U.S.
