Nebraska farmer switches to sorghum; it’s paid off

A South-Central Nebraska farmer says adding sorghum to his crop rotation has helped offset high feed costs for his cattle operation.

Eric Hausermann tells Brownfield drought has persisted for more than two years and a change from corn and soybeans was needed. “In our operation where we have cow/calf pairs, it really works well for fall grazing. Just implementing that into our rotation has been very key and very important to do so.”

But, he says, there’s some good news with additional moisture this winter.
