Shipping container issues have improved, but are not resolved

A logistics expert says the cost and availability of shipping containers have improved but the issue is far from over.

During a tour of CLAAS’s global parts hub, Director of Supply Chain Management Dietmar Dusing tells Brownfield the supply chain is better, “Prices are down, availability is not at the level it was before, but is going back.”

He says the coronavirus pandemic created supply and demand issues for ag products moving from Europe to the US, “Prices increased at the end and now the demand goes down, the shipping volume goes down.”

Dusing says demand has picked up as the global ag sector has recovered from the pandemic, cutting price and wait times nearly in half, “So it will take some time.
