Violet Davidge, 93, of Davenport, formerly of Muscatine, passed away on Thursday, February 16, 2023, at Ridgecrest Village.
She was born in Muscatine to Anna Shoemaker and William Parker Leatherman on May 2, 1929.
As a young woman, she worked at various button factories in Muscatine.
On May 12, 1945, she married Howard Hidlebaugh. They had 3 children, Dennis, deceased; Denise Peterson, Illinois; and Sharon Morrow, Davenport. She had 7 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
She graduated from Bussell’s Beauty School and opened her own shop, “The Beauty Nook”. She retired from HON industries in 1988.
Her husband preceded her in death.
In 1992, she married Walter Davidge. Together, they traveled all over the world.
She is survived by two daughters; grandchildren; and great grandchildren; and a sister, Carol Brown, of Muscatine.
She was preceded in death by a son, two husbands, seven brothers, a sister, and a special friend Art Peterson.
Memorials may be made to QC Honor Flight and Ridgecrest Charitable Fund.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Monday February 20, 2023, at Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held on Tuesday February 21, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Memorial Park Cemetery.
