Farm bill and property taxes top priorities for SD Corn

The South Dakota Corn Growers Association has outlined its two big policy priorities for the next year. Executive Director DaNita Murray tells Brownfield in the state legislature, property taxes remain the top priority year after year.

“If you’re going to decrease revenue or spend more, farmers really want to draw a line in the sand saying let’s don’t mess with property taxes or at least, let’s look at other options before we do.”

As for federal priorities, the state’s corn farmers would like to see an increase in reference prices in the next farm bill.
