A southwest Iowa farmer says he’s optimistic about the upcoming spring planting season.
Justin Ewalt of Fremont County says winter moisture has recharged the soil profile. “After harvest was over, I think everybody’s main concern was weather,” he said. “We were very dry. Now we have slipped into the new year here and things have been a 180. We’ve been pretty wet.”
He tells Brownfield some input costs have improved. “Fertilizer has come down a little bit from a year ago,” Ewalt said.
