Michael Dora

Michael E. ‘Mike’ Dora, 61, of Muscatine, passed away on Monday, January 2, 2023, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.

Michael will be buried privately, surrounded by his family and friends.  The Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.  Online condolences may be made at www.wittichfuneralhome.com.  Memorials may be made in Mike’s honor to his son, Lucas.

Michael was born on December 19, 1961, in Muscatine, the son of Edward L. and Nancy K. Boldt Dora.

Michael was a 1980 graduate of Muscatine High School.  He drove truck for many years with several different companies: TanTara Transportation (hauling the Iowa Hawkeyes’ equipment), Curry’s Transportation, Thompson Trucking, Ruan Transportation, and most recently for Lazer Spot.  He is known to many as a loyal friend, who would truly do anything for them.  He was an avid fan of the Detroit Lions and Tigers, and of course the Iowa Hawkeyes.  He loved his trucks, four-wheelers, bikes and snowmobiles, and enjoyed all the outdoors could offer, particularly feeding the deer.  Most of all, he loved his son, Lucas.  Michael loved to spoil him, along with his dogs.

He is survived by his son Lucas of Wilton; Lucas’ mother, Paula Derksen and stepfather Jeff; Lucas’ half-brothers, Romann and Tommy Derksen; his sisters, Debbie Frizzell and her husband, Joe, of Ames, and Cindy Trumbull and her husband, Butch, of Muscatine, his aunt Betsy Martin and her husband, Sharon; along with many nieces and nephews.

Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Nancy in 1999, and Ed in 2021; and his great aunt, Helen Stegall.
