Donald E. Bromwell Sr.

Donald E. ‘PeeWee’ Bromwell Sr., 86, of rural Letts, passed away on Saturday, December 17, 2022, at Genesis East Hospital in Davenport.

Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 23, 2022, at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home.  Reverend Darryl Erickson will be officiating.  Burial will be in Grandview Cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 23, 2022, at the funeral home.  Online condolences may be made at www.wittichfuneralhome.com.  Memorials may be made to the family.

Donald was born on August 15, 1936, in Muscatine, the son of Jesse James and Hazel Marie Lepper Bromwell.  He married Harriet E. Reed on February 23, 1957, in Muscatine.

Member of Hillcrest Baptist Church, formerly Lincoln Boulevard Baptist Church for 50 years.  He gave his time by being involved in Awanas, being a youth group leader, and became a Deacon and Word of Life leader in the church as well.  Donald worked at Carver Pump as a pump assembler, then later at McKee Button Factory in Maintenance.  He enjoyed the time he got to spend outdoors hunting, fishing, camping and mushroom hunting.  He also liked spending time with his family and grandchildren, and he organized 40 Bromwell family reunions throughout the years.

He is survived by his children, Donnie E. Bromwell Jr. of Morning Sun, Greg Bromwell and his wife, Diana, of Calamus, and Beth Bromwell Kitchen, and her husband, Ted, of Williston, Florida; grandchildren, Ethan Rogers and his wife, Amanda, along with children Nova and Victor; Katelynn, Jacob, and Joshua Bromwell; and Elana and Ximena Bernhardt; siblings, Lorraine ‘Rainy’ Daigh of Idaho, and Robert ‘Butch’ Bromwell and his wife Roberta ‘Tink’ of Muscatine; brother-in-law Randy Reed and his wife, Joyce, of Muscatine; sister-in-law Cindy Lamb and her husband Donald of Grandview; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; His wife, Harriet, in 2016; a brother, Frank; sisters, Rosemary, Margaret, Gertrude, Jane, and Virginia; and a half-brother, Robert.
