NCBA getting farm bill feedback

The National Cattlemen’s Beef Association is getting feedback on farm bill priorities at state cattlemen’s meetings.

National Cattlemen’s Beef Association CEO Colin Woodall says research funding needs to continue in the next farm bill, “That research that has helped all of us in agriculture, especially those of us in the cattle business, be more efficient, be better and always improve. It’s also that same research that has helped get us an FMD vaccine bank.”

Woodall says protecting risk management tools will be important, but that requires reauthorization, “Long run, it will be money well spent to help producers, rather than worrying about like the coronavirus food assistance program, CFAP payments, in the future, get ahead of that and the best way to do that is help producers manage risk on the front end.”

Woodall also says it’s a big lift to get a farm bill done in 2023, but it’s not an impossible task.
