HPAI hits another Iowa commercial turkey site

Highly pathogenic avian influenza has been detected within another commercial turkey flock in Iowa.

The Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship says the virus was found in Ida County. It’s the seventh confirmed HPAI case in the state this month, all impacting commercial turkey sites.

State Ag Secretary Mike Naig tells Brownfield an order canceling all live bird exhibitions will remain in effect for a minimum of 30 days after any new infection in the state.
