The head of the National Sorghum Producers says historic drought reflects the need for a stronger farm safety net in the next farm bill.
Craig Meeker is the chairmen and farms in Southern Kansas. “Hopefully there will be new baseline dollars to hopefully bring some reference price updates to where they’re level with cost production. We’re optimistic and we’re ready for the farm bill process whenever that comes.”
Speaking with Brownfield at the 2022 National Farm Broadcasting Convention, he said weather took a toll on many crops, and disaster aid will also be a priority.
