Kirk Shore

Kirk Shore, 92, of Muscatine, passed away on Wednesday, November 23, 2022, at the Clarissa Cook Hospice House.

Services will be held at a later date. The Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.  Memorials may be made to the Muscatine Humane Society or St. Jude’s Children Hospital. Online condolences may be made at www.wittichfuneralhome.com.

Kirk was born on March 11, 1930, in Osgood, Missouri, the son of Lester D. and Madelyn L. Brotherton Shore. He married Carol Wolf and later divorced. He then married Glenda Carnine in 1983.

He graduated from Galesburg High School, attended the University of Iowa, and worked for Stanley Consultants as an Architect Assistant. He was a member of Izaak Walton and enjoyed game feeds and trap shooting.

Kirk was a veteran of the United States Navy serving as an aviation electrician. He completed training at the Great Lakes Naval Academy in 1951 and served for four years in the South Pacific and Corpus Christi.

He enjoyed fishing in Canada, duck hunting, cycling, spending time with his dog, Sophie, riding his motorcycle, traveling and camping. He was an avid reader, was always trying new things, and was always playing classical music.

Kirk is survived by his wife, Glenda of Muscatine; four children, Jeri Beverlin and husband, Jim, Steven Shore, Lynette Stickney and husband, Steve, and Lance Luckow and husband, Jin; three grandchildren, Brian Beverlin and wife, Beth, Chad Beverlin, and Lee Stickney; two great grandchildren, Madelyn Beverlin and Parker Beverlin; sister-in-law, Susan Shore; and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; two siblings, Kerry Shore and Joan Sundberg.
