Mexico buys more corn as concerns about GMO ban continue

The USDA reports a pair of new U.S. export sales.

Mexico bought 1,866,900 tons of U.S. corn, with 1,242,060 tons for delivery this marketing year and the remaining 624,840 for next marketing year.

This is the second announced sale of U.S. corn to Mexico this week even with persistent concerns about sustained demand ahead of Mexico’s ban on GMO corn imports, which is set to take effect in 2024. The running total for this week is 2,097,085 tons, with 1,472,245 of that for delivery in 2022/23.
