USDA cuts rice crop guess, raises upland cotton

The USDA has lowered its 2022 U.S. rice production guess while raising the estimate for upland cotton.

As of November 1st, rice is projected at 164.349 million hundredweight, about a million less than October’s report following a downward revision in the yield estimate, now at 7,549 pounds per acre. The harvested area for all types of rice is expected to be 2.177 million acres. In 2021, production was 191.796 million hundredweight with an average yield of 7,709 pounds per acre on 2.488 million acres.
