David Schaapveld, 67, of Muscatine, passed away on Friday, November 4, 2022, at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics.

David was born on April 1, 1955, in Muscatine, the son of Cecil R. and Dolores M. Fabrizius Schaapveld. He married Jane Pelton on May 29, 1975, in Rock Island, Illinois.
David retired from Monsanto as a lab technician and a safety coordinator. He was also an EMT and volunteered for the Riley Ambulance and Sheriffs Patrol for many years. He enjoyed woodworking and auctioneering but most of all, he loved his family and his dogs.

He is survived by his wife, Jane Schaapveld of Muscatine; two children Sarah Evans and husband, Jake, and Robert ‘Bob’ Schaapveld and wife, Destany, all of Muscatine; four grandchildren, Stella Bender, Jackson Evans, Briar Evans, and Evie Evans; five siblings, Robert Schaapveld and wife, Judy, James ‘Jim’ Schaapveld and wife, Susan, Maureen Mahoney and Bruce Meyer, Janet Hamann and husband, Ed, and Joann Nelson and Joe Mueller; and many nieces and nephews.
David is preceded in death by his parents, and siblings, Larry Schaapveld and Barbara Schaapveld.
