Looking ahead, the 6- to 10-day outlook calls for the likelihood of above-normal temperatures along and east of a line from eastern New Mexico to Minnesota, while cooler-than-normal conditions will cover an area stretching from the Pacific Coast to the northern Plains.
Meanwhile, near- or above-normal precipitation across most of the country should contrast with drier-than-normal conditions in the lower half of the Mississippi Valley.
