A pattern shift ahead for parts of the Heartland later next week

Looking ahead, the 6- to 10-day outlook calls for the likelihood of above-normal temperatures along and east of a line from Texas to Lake Michigan, while cooler-than-normal conditions will cover areas from the Pacific Coast to the northern half of the Plains and the upper Midwest. 

Meanwhile, below-normal precipitation from the southern Rockies into the mid-South should contrast with wetter-than-normal weather across much of the northern and eastern U.S.
