John Deere announces demo farm project with Iowa State University

A new demonstration farm near Iowa State University will allow John Deere to test various production practices in real-world conditions.

Andy Greenlee, senior staff engineer with John Deere, says four different crop production systems will be tested on the 80-acre plot.

“It’s a way of showing the equipment and technologies, how they work and being able to have field days,” Greenlee said. “And then showing how the changes happen from an economic standpoint, and also the changes going on from an environmental standpoint such as soil health measurements.”

He tells Brownfield ISU will play a big role collecting insights that measure several factors including crop productivity, soil health, water quality, economic cost of production, carbon intensity, and biodiversity.
