U.S. farmers made and paid fractionally less in September than they did in August.
The USDA says the index of prices received by producers 0.2% on the month, with losses in hogs, soybeans, broilers, and strawberries narrowly canceling out gains in cattle, market eggs, lettuce, and broccoli.
The dairy index for September was up 0.4% from August and 33.4% from September 2021, with an all milk price of $24.40 per hundredweight, a gain of a dime on the month and $6.10 on the year.
