Sandra Kay Dugan

Sandra Kay Dugan, 82, of Muscatine, passed away on October 29, 2022, at her home, surrounded by her family.

Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, November 10, 2022 at St. Mathias Catholic Church.  The Reverend Chris Weber will be presiding.  Pallbearers will be Barry Dugan, Corinna Dugan, Tara Van Auken, Jenna Schumacher, Kelsie Dugan, Alex Dugan, and Kaylea Dugan.  Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.  A luncheon will be served at Gannon Hall following the Mass.

Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home with a Rosary Prayer Service at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.  Online condolences may be left at www.wittichfuneralhome.com.  Memorials may be made to Ss. Mary and Mathias Catholic Church.

Sandra was born on July 18, 1940 in Greene, Iowa, the daughter of Ralph Edward and Lillian Mae Smith Skillen.  She married Daniel J. Dugan on May 23, 1959 in Charles City at the Immaculate Conception Church.

Sandra was a member of St. Mary Church, and had a strong faith life.  She was a homemaker, and later worked as a lunch lady at Mulberry Elementary for 20 years.  She enjoyed going to the casino, as well as the many bowling trips, card club nights, and going dancing with her husband, Daniel, at the Moose Lodge.  She loved her family, and deeply enjoyed the times she spent with them.  In the quieter moments of her life, you could find her in the sunroom, watching the birds, reading her daily newspaper, and praying the Rosary.

Sandra is survived by five sons, Michael Dugan and his wife, Lisa, of Letts, Joseph Dugan and his wife, Tracey, of Moscow, Christopher Dugan and his wife, Kara, of Letts, Stephen Dugan of Muscatine, and Matthew Dugan and his wife, Sondra, of Muscatine; grandchildren, Barry (Chelsea) Dugan, Corinna Dugan, Tara (Jeremy) Van Auken, Jenna (Peter) Schumacher, Kelsie (fiancé Nate Stuer) Dugan, Alex Dugan, Kaylea (significant other Jacob) Dugan;  and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Daniel; a grandson, Patrick Dugan; five sisters, Kathleen (Orville) Sinram, Joan (LaVerne) Sinram, Audrey (Jack) Adams, Harriet “Henri” Skillen, and Paulette Skillen.
