Bean harvests are ahead while corn lags last year

Dry conditions have helped soybean and dry bean harvests advance in Michigan.

The USDA says corn condition was 67 percent good to excellent and 93 percent mature.  Corn silage harvest was mostly complete last week while grain harvest reached 30 percent.

Soybeans are 63 percent harvested, ahead of last year and the five-year average.  Dry beans are 95 percent harvested while sugarbeets are at 41 percent.

Winter wheat planting continues ahead of last year and the five-year average at 85 percent finished and 58 percent emerged.
