William ‘Bill’ S. Hill, 73, of Fruitland, passed away at Genesis Medical Center in Davenport on Tuesday, October 11, 2022.
A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon on Monday, October 17, 2022, at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley Freers Funeral Home. William was born on July 11, 1949, in Muscatine, the son of Edward and Jeanne Cook Hill. He married Sandy Dahnke on July 16, 1970 in Salinas, California.
He worked as production control manager at Bandag for 47 years, retiring in 2019. William was active as a member of the Sons of the American Legion. He excelled as a swimmer, being captain of his high school swim team. He loved gardening with Sandy, and making his pepper mix, which he often shared with family and friends, and always made time for visits with those he loved.
Will be deeply missed by his wife, Sandy; his son Adam and his wife, Kristi, of Des Moines; his granddaughter Morgan; sisters Colleen Betz and her husband, Lanny, of Florida, Valerie and her husband, Doug, of Golden, Colorado; mother-in-law JoAnn Dahnke of Muscatine; sisters- and brothers-in-law Linda Marks of Muscatine, Tina Vastine and her husband, Joe, of Waukon, Sam Dahnke and his wife, Sheri, of Muscatine, Jeff Dahnke and his wife, Brenda, of Muscatine; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
William was preceded in death by his parents; sister Dana Hill; father-in-law Lyle Dahnke; sister-in-law Sharon Fuller, and brother-in-law Tim Brase.
