Doug Reist, 70, of Muscatine, passed away at home in his sleep on Sunday, October 9, 2022.
A visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 13, 2022, at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. Doug was born on October 12, 1951, in Illinois City, the son of Herman and Mary Ida Reed Reist. He married Candis Welsch on October 21, 1983.
Doug owned and operated Midtown Towing & Repair for 38 years. Doug served the community as a member of the Muscatine County Sheriff’s Patrol for 40 years, and was President and Vice-President of the organization for 25 of those years.
Doug and his family loved boating on the river. He enjoyed his trips to Sturgis on his Harley. His other Harley adventures included visiting the Grand Canyon, Las Vegas, and Washington, D.C.
He is survived by his wife, Candis, sons Cyle and his daughter Makennah of Muscatine, Darren and his children Libby and Ryan of Muscatine, and Eric of Washington, D.C.
Doug was preceded in death by his parents, stepmom Ruth, and brother Raymond.
