HPAI detected in Kentucky

Highly pathogenic avian influenza has been detected in a small backyard flock in Fayette County, Kentucky.

This is the first case of the virus in the state since February of this year, when it was detected on commercial poultry operations in Fulton and Webster Counties.

Kentucky Commissioner of Ag Ryan Quarles says poultry producers across the state should take the necessary precautions to protect their flocks as cases of Avian Influenza have been on the rise across the country.
