Five straight months of dairy export growth reported

The U.S. Dairy Export Council says dairy exports are on their way to setting new volume and value records this year.

Total export values in August were up 23 percent from 2021 to more than nearly $160 million while the volume increased by six percent.

Exports of butterfat were up 71 percent despite higher prices.  Cheese exports were up six percent with increased demand from Mexico, South Korea, and Saudi Arbia.

Dry whey exports reached a 17-month high during August, up 30 percent from 2021 with more buying from China.  Whey permeate shipments were the fourth highest on record, up seven percent on the month, with significant buying from China and South America which the council attributes to a persistent rebound in pork prices.
