Tom was born in 1950, in Muscatine to the parents of William J. and Frances L. Kleveter Sizek.

In his youth, Tom held the title, “fastest kid on Burnside Avenue,” said childhood friend/neighbor, Scott Ingstad. He was a little league centerfielder and a successful tailback because of his speed. In high school, Tom participated in both track and cross country for Muscatine High School. He was a graduate of the class of 1968 and then went on to work at HON, later transferring over to Prime Mover. Tom took an early retirement to care for his ailing mother. In his later years, Tom concentrated on writing a book that he hoped would be published titled “How and Why.”

Tom’s surviving relatives include: his sister, Darlene Meyer, and her three children, nephews, Robert and James, and a niece, Debra. In the last couple of years, Tom also adopted a host of neighbors and care providers along with kids and grandchildren as helpers. We will miss his open door and willingness to help, his kind, caring nature, and good heartedness as well as his love of laughter and patience in listening.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents, a nephew, Michael Meyer, and a brother-in-law, Lyle Meyer.
