Soy farmers commit $900,000 to soybean meal export project

A group of soybean farmer organizations is helping fund a major export terminal expansion project on the West Coast.

Mike Steenhoek with the Soy Transportation Coalition says Omaha-based cooperative AGP is adding storage capacity and developing a new ship loader at the Port of Grays Harbor in Aberdeen, Washington. These upgrades will help increase soybean meal exports from 3 million to 6 million metric tons.

“A lot of this is inspired by the increased amount of soybean processing that’s occurring in the United States and is planned here in this country,” Steenhoek said.
