HPAI detected in Macomb County, again

The Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development is reporting a second case highly pathogenic avian influenza this fall.

A 40-bird backyard flock consisting of various species of birds in Macomb County tested positive for the virus and was the third in the county this year.

Officials are reminding the public to help reduce the spread of the virus as wild birds begin migrating south.  Feeding waterfowl and using bird feeders is not recommended.
