Leona Ann Thomsen, 99, of Muscatine, passed away on Thursday, September 15, 2022, at Premier Estates of Muscatine.
Funeral Service will be at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, September 20, 2022, at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. Reverend Chris Weber will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Buffalo, Iowa. Memorials may be made to the Muscatine Humane Society or Ss. Mary Mathias Parish. Online condolences may be made at www.wittichfuneralhome.com.
Leona was born on February 3, 1923, in East Moline, the daughter of Alidor and Julia VanMalle DeRiemacker. She married Richard Thomsen on October 1, 1941, in Buffalo. He preceded her in death on May 5, 1975.
Leona attended St. Mary’s grade school and then later graduated from East Moline High School. She was a member of St. Mary’s Church. Leona was a housewife and served food in the cafeteria for the Muscatine School District.
She enjoyed her cats, Wheel of Fortune, and bird watching. Leona loved being around and spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
She is survived by her two grandchildren, Jennifer Ryan and husband Reuben, and their daughter, Bailey, of Muscatine and Chris Thomsen and his wife Whitney, and their children Landen and Alexis Wilder and Thomas Thomsen, of Muscatine; one niece, Mary Levy and her husband, Mike, of Washington, Iowa, two nephews, Steven DeRiemacker of Davenport and Andy DeRiemacker and his wife, Krista, of Atalissa; and a daughter-in-law, Judy Wilson and her husband, Tom, of Fruitland.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two children, Thomas Thomsen and Teresa Joyce Wilson; and brother, Robert DeRiemacker and wife, Mildred.
