Diversifying export markets for pork boosts long-term demand

Pork exports continue to slow year-over-year and a livestock economist says much of that has been because of China.

University of Missouri’s Scott Brown says that is one reason why a more diverse set of export markets is needed.  “So you’re looking for those other large populated countries with money in their pockets that could be the next big places,” he says. “Those get hard to find. We can have the India discussion for at least some commodities, but not all.”

He tells Brownfield other markets also show promise.
