Harvest is underway in areas of the drought-stricken Great Plains and one farmer says yields are worse than he expected.
“The plants just died and had to give up.”
Eastern Kansas farmer Lance Rezac tells Brownfield corn yields have barely broken 100 bushels an acre. “It’s dry and the yields are disappointing and less than half of our APH’s probably.”
And, he says, his soybean crop is fading fast. “They’re looking tough. I’m afraid to even go look in the field out there at the moment. I keep hoping we’re going to get a rain because we have some longer root 4s.
