Cattle futures lower ahead of cash business

At the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, live and feeder cattle were lower waiting for direct cash business to pick up.  October live cattle closed $.80 lower at $144.25 and December lives closed $.80 lower at $150.07.  October feeder cattle closed $2.15 lower at $183.95 and November feeder cattle closed $1.57 lower at $185.45.

Direct cash cattle trade activity is slow to find its footing following the long holiday weekend.  A few bids surfaced at $222 and $226 dressed in the North, while the rest of cattle country was quiet.
