54% of Indiana corn, 56% of soybeans rated good to excellent

The USDA says much needed rainfall replenished soil moisture last week in Indiana.

Fifty-four percent of the corn crop is in good to excellent condition. Ninety-four percent of the state’s crop is in the dough stage, 55 percent dented, and nine percent is mature.

Fifty-six percent of soybeans are in good to excellent condition, with 95 percent setting pods and 10 percent dropping leaves.

Topsoil moisture is 60 percent and subsoil moisture is 57 percent adequate to surplus.
