Lina S. Oberhaus

Lina Sarah Oberhaus, 85, of Muscatine, Iowa passed away on August 22, 2022, at Bickford Cottage. She was a daughter of the late Christopher “Kit” Logsdon and Eliza Durbin Logsdon.

Lina was born in Sunfish, KY, where she graduated from St. John’s Catholic School in 1955. After high school, she attended St. Joseph’s Infirmary in Louisville, KY, where she earned her R.N. As a nurse she served patients in the Muscatine area for over 20 years.

A devoted wife and mother, Lina worked with her husband John on a farm near Letts, IA for over 50 years. Lina provided a bottomless well of love and patience for her family, and she generously gave her time and energy to a number of social, charitable, and religious organizations in her community. She made many wonderful friends along the way.

Lina was preceded in death by her husband John, her six brothers, two sisters, and one granddaughter. She is survived by her four children, Ann Van Sant (Duane), Chris (Tenley), Anthony (Dr. Jasmina) and Joan Flanders (Joe), 14 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and her sister Elizabeth.

The world has lost a beautiful soul and she will be sorely missed by everyone who was lucky enough to have known her.

At Lina’s request, a visitation will not be held. A rosary will be said for Lina at 9:00 a.m., followed by a funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, September 16, 2022, at St. Mathias Church, 215 West Eighth Street, Muscatine, IA, followed by burial at St. Mary’s Cemetery. A time of food and fellowship will be held at St. Mathias Church in Gannon Hall after the committal service at the cemetery.
