Jerry Stigers

Jerry Stigers, 83, of Muscatine, passed away on Friday, August 26, 2022, at home.

A Celebration of his Life will be held from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m., on Wednesday, August 31, 2022, at the Letts Community Center. Burial will take place in Grandview Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the family, in care of his wife, Joyce. Online Condolences: www.wittichfuneralhome.com.

Jerry was born on February 12, 1939, in Davenport, the son of Vernon and Irene Walker Stigers. He married Joyce Fordice on May 24, 1987, at the Little Brown Church in the Vale, Nashua, Iowa.

He graduated from Muscatine High School and worked for GPC before he owned and operated his own trucking business with his wife, while also farming.

Jerry was a member of Island Methodist Church. He loved his dog Jack, camping, watching NASCAR, and restoring Farmall tractors. He had a huge toy tractor collection. He enjoyed wintering in Arizona and traveling to South Dakota where he did maintenance at Mt. Rushmore while work camping. Most of all, he was a family man and was very proud of his grandchildren.

Jerry will be missed by his wife, Joyce Stigers of Muscatine; five children, Mark Stigers and wife, Debbie, of Letts, Terri Slater and husband, Rick, of Wapello, Christine Daniel and husband, Steve, of Hermitage, Missouri, Melvin Hutchens Jr. and wife, Lexie, of Midway, Kentucky, and Melinda Estep and husband, Mike, of Lexington, Kentucky; 23 grandchildren, Keith (Murphy) Stigers, Brandon (Kelly) Stigers, Kayla Stigers, Kolt (Cheyanne) Slater, Ty Slater, Jensen (Michelle) Tyler, Devin (Dave) Bellich, Shanna Tyler, Thea Tyler, Selina Tyler, Cheyanne Tyler, Miles, Maddie Bodwell, Marly Tyler, Nick (Holly) Daniel, Austin Daniel, Brianna Brase, Brittney Brase (Garth Larson), Nate Hutchens, Sophie Hutchens, Austin (Emily) Yates, Ashley (Zach) Hinds, and Michael Estep; 21 great grandchildren, Clay, Kaleb, McKenzie, Caleb, Carter, Skye, Dean, Ryan, Dylan, Hendriks, Cash, Dahlia, Baker, Jaycob, Max, Aidan, Braylee, Malakai, Wyatt, Scarlett, and Braeden; and many other family members.

He is preceded in death by his parents, and step-son, Donald Tyler in 2021.
