Wastewater upgrades set to improve food processing in fruit ridge

A community in West Michigan has been granted nearly $3 million to expand its water infrastructure and food processing capacity.

The U.S. Commerce Department’s economic development funding will help the City of Hart improve its wastewater facilities.

Officials say the grant was met by equal private investment and will create more than $2 million in additional expansions.

Hart is home to several large food processors including Indian Summer Cooperative, Peterson Farms, Michigan Freeze Pack Co., Arbre Farms, and Gray and Co.
