Trade mission highlights Nebraska ag, promotes beef trade

A Nebraska cattle producer says the Governor’s trade mission to the United Kingdom and Ireland is a great way to showcase Nebraska ag products.

Jaclyn Wilson, from Lakeside, says she’s optimistic this trip will help increase exports of products, like beef, into the UK and Ireland.  “What we’re offering and the opportunities that we have a state, when you have such a huge agriculture state, you’re really able to use that as a selling point,” she says.

Wilson also serves on the International Trade Committee for the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association.  She tells Brownfield this visit has been an opportunity to continue to share science-based trade information.  “Their biggest concerns are sustainability and animal welfare and the ethics behind the production cycle,” she says.  “So, we’re going to have to continue to work hard in order to show, what farmers and ranchers are doing to help the environment.”

Governor Ricketts says the UK and Ireland are key trading partners for Nebraska, and this trade mission is focusing primarily on the insurance industry and growing Nebraska agriculture.
