Pastures improving in parts of Iowa

Central Iowa cattle producer Justin Robbins says his pastures are showing signs of life after the hot and dry summer.

“These last couple little shots of rain we’ve gotten have made things green again,” he said. “Pastures are starting to rejuvenate a little bit.”

He tells Brownfield the improvement in conditions has been welcomed, and they plan to move back to grazing in the next few weeks. “I have started to supplement a little bit just to try to take the pressure off the grass so I can get some other pastures to wake up and get going.”

Robbins and his family run both a cow/calf and row crop operation in Greene County.
