Tar spot concerns increasing

Cooler and wetter conditions in parts of the Eastern Corn Belt recently are ideal for tar spot outbreaks.

Pioneer dairy specialist Dann Bolinger covers Michigan and Ohio.

“Tar spot is present, it is at significantly lower pressure levels at this stage of the game compared to last year, although we have has some pretty conducive weather in recent weeks,” he says.

He says tar spot thrives in high humidity, morning fog, and areas of consistent leaf wetness, and pressure is likely to start accelerating.
