Scout for spotted lanternfly now through fall

Michigan State University entomologists are encouraging farmers to scout for spotted lanternfly after being recently detected in Oakland County.

Entomologists say the invasive species could damage at least 70 different crops in the state, with grapes, hops, and apples at higher risk.

The pest has not been detected on any fruit farms yet but could spread as it develops into adults in late August and is active until cold weather returns.
