Farmer expects disease pressure after recent rains

Southwestern Indiana farmer Ben Kron says some growers faced fungicide supply challenges in his area this growing season.

“We started to run almost a little bit short, luckily we had enough of our own,” he says. “Around here, everybody was running fungicide at about the same time and the supply got short and some farmers were a couple of weeks behind.”

He tells Brownfield disease pressure hasn’t been an issue yet, but “I expect a lot of the diseases to be moving in here probably this week because of the way the rainfall and storms have been moving through.”

Kron grows corn and soybeans in Evansville.
