Western Illinois agronomist says soybeans need rain

A west central Illinois agronomist says soybeans could use some rain.

Brad Koch with Precision Planting tells Brownfield while the crop looks good from the road, he is concerned about pod fill.

“Lots of nodes, lots of pods, but very few have I seen that are filling out very well yet.”

He says the added stress on the crop is allowing for more disease pressure.

“I’ve gotten reports of soybean stem canker, sudden death syndrome in early planted soybeans, things like that.
