Nebraska crops: corn 47 percent, soybeans 48 percent good-to-excellent

Nebraska farmer Jay Reiners says the clock is running out on his soybean crop.

“I’ve been in this situation before of all the rain in the world now isn’t going to help the beans out because they’re on a fast pace to death.”

USDA says 48 percent of the state’s soybean crop is in good-to-excellent condition with 88 percent setting pods. That’s a six percent drop than the previous week.

He tells Brownfield the quality of his crop indicates that most of the soil moisture has been depleted.
