59% of South Dakota corn, 60% of soybeans rated good to excellent

Corn and soybean conditions declined in South Dakota over the last week.

The USDA says corn is rated 59 percent good to excellent, down six percentage points from the week prior. Eighty-nine percent of the crop was silking, with 32 percent in the dough stage.

Soybeans were rated 60 percent good to excellent, down five percentage points from the previous week. Ninety percent of the crop was blooming and 60 percent setting pods.

Winter wheat harvest is 92 percent finished, compared to 96 percent last year. Pasture and range conditions are rated 27 percent good to excellent.
